The Director General of the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE), Delwendé Davy NANEMA, chaired, this Tuesday, May 13, 2025 in Ouagadougou, the framing meeting of the micro-assessment of the financial management capacities and internal control systems of the FIE, commissioned by the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), as part of the implementation of the LoCAL Facility in Burkina Faso.

Mr. NANEMA emphasized the availability of the FIE to facilitate this evaluation for the successful implementation of the activities of the LoCAL Facility. The National Coordinator of the Climate Change Adaptation Mechanism, LoCAL Facility, Dr. Jean Marie SOURWEMA reassured that this evaluation does not call into question the momentum underway, but rather to strengthen the existing ones and open up better perspectives for the FIE because this evaluation meets the standards of the United Nations system.

According to consultant Armande ZERBO, the objective of the micro-assessment is to evaluate the FIE's strengths and weaknesses in terms of financial management capabilities and internal control systems. " Our review follows a model established by the UN, covering areas such as: organization, employees and behaviors, activities, reporting and accountability, assets and inventory, procurement, sub-partners, and systems ."

The micro-assessment consists mainly of interviews with project management/finance staff (Director of Finance and Accounting, Director of Public Procurement, Director of Human Resources, Internal Auditor, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Senior Materials Accountant) and the review of supporting documents.

The activity will take place for 48 hours, on May 13 and 14, 2025.
